The managers of a historic French theatre have been lambasted for potentially facing bankruptcy after allowing hundreds of illegal migrants to occupy the venue for almost 100 days.

The iconic Gaîté Lyrique theatre in Paris has been occupied by a group of more than 440 migrants, which have called themselves the “Collectif des jeunes du Parc de Belleville”, and are protesting against the Government for “ignoring” and “abandoning” them.

The migrants were originally allowed into the venue under a ‘Refugees Welcome in France’ conference, which gave them free tickets by the managers.

However, in a statement released by the theatre’s management, they have warned that “without intervention by the authorities by Friday”, the Gaîté Lyrique company and its teams “will be forced to leave the building”.

Comedian and GB News presenter Leo Kearse described the scenario as a “tragic situation” for anyone who has “invested in” or “wants to go to that theatre”.

Leo stated: “It’s tragic for anybody who wanted to go to the theatre or anybody who’s invested in the theatre or has a job at the theatre.

“But this is a great example of leftists putting their own values on the line, putting their their money where their mouth is.”

Highlighting how the issue itself has become an “immersive theatre of modern Europe”, Leo explained the issue has been concentrated to one venue in Paris rather than being “dispersed into the population”.

Leo said: “They’ve invited them into the theatre, and what they’ve done is sort of created an immersive theatre experience of modern Europe.

“We’ve got all the issues that come from mass migration and open borders actually happening in this theatre, and I think it’s great that they’ve done it to themselves instead of dispersing these issues amongst the population.”

Detailing how the group are claiming to be “minors” despite being known to the council, Leo called for Governments both in France and the UK assessing illegal migrants to carry out “official tests” to check the ages of people entering our countries.

Leo fumed: “This is a dangerous aspect of the whole mass immigration system, because we’ve seen asylum judges in this country rule that the migrants are children, that are 16 years old, when official government assessors working for the council, working for the Home Office, have said that there are around 23 to 25.

Kearse told GB News there is a ‘real safety issue’ with illegal migration across Europe

“They’ve got receding hairlines, they’ve got crow’s feet. It’s fine to have older people playing high school kids if you’re filming Grease or if you’re filming Beverly Hills 90210, but when you’re putting actual adults in real schools with British children, this is where it becomes a real issue. There’s a real safety issue.”

In a statement, the Gaîté Lyrique management said: “We call on the Paris City Hall, cultural stakeholders, representatives of the social and solidarity economy, civil society and committed public authorities to defend a common vision, shared values, the ambition to come together and act collectively.

“We call on them to mobilise now to preserve the Gaîté Lyrique and save an open, fertile and supportive place, to participate in the Fabrique of the era.

“La Gaîté Lyrique and its entire team will be able to resume management, maintenance and operation of the building once the competent authorities have provided shelter to the occupants and met the safety and health conditions necessary for the reintegration of employees and residents.”
