Prince Harry has revealed his “genuine concern” for Meghan Markle following their Invictus Games appearance.

The Duke of Sussex made the comments in a new interview following the Games in Canada earlier this month.


Harry and Meghan spent four days together at the event before she returned to California to care for their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.

The couple attended their first Invictus Games together in 2016, when they were still dating.

Harry described a concerning moment during the 2018 Sydney Games when a fan gave him a “bear hug”.

“My genuine concern that he might try the same with my wife, who was pregnant at the time!” he told Us Weekly.

Meghan was expecting Prince Archie, who was born on May 9, 2019.

The couple later welcomed Princess Lilibet on June 4, 2021.

In the interview, Harry spoke warmly about Meghan’s long-standing connection to the Invictus Games.

He told the outlet that Meghan has been “part of this community since shortly after the Orlando Games in 2016 and has loved every minute of it.”

The Duke launched the Invictus Games in 2014, creating a platform for injured and sick military personnel and veterans.

The couple’s involvement with the Games has been a significant part of their relationship since its early days.

After returning to California, Meghan shared a heartfelt Valentine’s Day tribute to Harry on social media.

She posted a black and white photo of them together with a loving message.

“Back home taking care of our babies, and missing my Valentine, as he continues on at the Invictus Games,” she wrote.

Meghan added: “Beyond proud of my husband and what he’s created. My love, I will eat burgers & fries and fish & chips with you forever.”

Harry appreciated the gesture, telling the publication: “Yes, the Instagram shout-out was very sweet and much appreciated!”

Harry also spoke about the 2027 Invictus Games, which will take place in Birmingham.

“Birmingham for us, is a very, very emotionally connected place,” he said.

The location holds deep significance for veterans who participated in the Games. “A lot of these guys, they woke up in Birmingham after being blown up in Afghanistan,” Harry explained.
