According to gut health scientist Mr Gut Health, who frequently shares useful tips and advice on social media, coffee is brimming with one essential nutrient that is excellent for reducing cholesterol, aiding weight loss, and enhancing blood sugar levels.

In an Instagram video, the expert highlighted the benefits of your morning cuppa, with one unexpected perk – it’s actually loaded with fibre.
He said: “Two cups of coffee have around the same amount of fibre as one banana.”
However, he noted that not all types of coffee have this effect. He warned: “Only espresso, instant and filtered coffee are high in fibre – not cold or drip-brew.”

According to Healthline experts, soluble fibre – which is found in coffee – can help you in losing belly fat and prevent you from gaining it initially, reports Surrey Live.
This makes it an excellent choice if you’re on a weight loss journey or simply want to start your day feeling better.
Additionally, the pro explained that drinking coffee on an empty stomach can ‘activate the gastro-colic reflex’, with the caffeine stimulating the colon to contract, making it easier to go to the toilet.
The expert also highlighted the richness of polyphenols in this food. He said: “These help to reduce intestinal inflammation and promote the growth of good bacteria in your gut.”
Research has indicated that soluble fibre is quite filling, which can deter you from reaching for sweet treats and consuming excess calories.
It’s also beneficial in regulating hormones related to appetite control and can suppress hunger by slowing down the passage of food through the digestive system.
