Lorraine Kelly has said, “It has to stop,” as she weighed in on Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton’s reported “clash.”
During Thursday’s (February 27) episode of Lorraine, the ITV presenter welcomed Royal correspondent Russell Myers and broadcaster Sonali Shah to the show to discuss the latest Royal news.
The trio began speaking about a reported jam rift between Kate and Meghan after Kate promised to send her recipe for plum jam to young gardeners during a visit to Meadow Street Community Garden on Wednesday.
The revelation that the Princess has been making her own jam follows Meghan’s recent foray into the preserve market. She has been sending pots of homemade jam under the name of her American Riviera Orchard brand – which has now been changed to As Ever.

However, fans have now claimed that the pair are in a “jam war.”
Commenting on the news, Russell explained: “From the sublime to the ridiculous in this job… Apparently, the Duchesses and the Princesses are at war over preserves.”
“The Princess of Wales was with Prince William yesterday in Pontypridd in Wales and visiting locals who have had a pretty tough time in recent months,” he continued.
“She was mixing with some local school kids, and they were talking about how they’d come together and did some cooking lessons, and she said, ‘I’m going to send you my recipe for plum jam,’ and of course, everybody has lost their minds over this because [Kate and Meghan] must be at war.”
This elicited a strong response from Lorraine, who said, “It is silly, isn’t it?”

She added: “Do you not think surely it has to stop quite soon. Every time Meghan does something or Catherine does something, there’s always people who want to see a clash, even when there isn’t one.”
Russell admitted that he was “surprised” to see how “tribal” fans had become over William and Kate and Harry and Meghan but acknowledged that it has “died down” now.
Sonali also said that women no longer need to be pitted against each other, saying: “They can both have their jam. What’s interesting is we’re waiting for Meghan’s jam, and in the meantime, this has just happened.
“You can just go out there and put it out there and not have to, sort of, pre-launch anything. We wish them both success.”
Lorraine airs weekdays on ITV1 at 9am
