This Morning star Vanessa Feltz has opened up about her struggles with being single, as she admits feeling “isolated”.
The 63-year-old presenter’s love life took a turn back in January 2023 when she announced her split from fiancé Ben Ofoedu after a 16-year relationship.
Despite embarking on several dates and taking part in the reality show Celebs Go Dating since then, Vanessa remains in search of her perfect match.
In an interview with The Independent, she discussed the challenges of her current situation, revealing: “There is this vacuum of silence.
“People tell me I should feel liberated and great about it but I feel awful, completely cut adrift, a castaway, isolated, and it’s a horrid feeling.”
Previously sharing what she is looking for in a partner, she wrote in her memoir Vanessa Bares All: “I just want somebody nice.
“I’m not asking for miracles, but they’ve got to be a bit attractive.
“There has to be chemistry and fun. I’m not in despair or abject panic, but it would be very nice.”
Last year, Vanessa revealed she had high hopes after being set up with someone by her friends, however it wasn’t the outcome she hoped for.
Speaking on the Suddenly Single podcast, the host recounted how she “liked him from the very first second” and described their date as “sublime”.
“It’s just great,” she enthused. “From the second he gets there it’s fabulous. We’re just having a lovely, excellent time.”
Vanessa went on to say that the date lasted six hours and ended with a passionate 15-minute kiss.
Despite it going well however, she received less than favourable news from the mystery man just three days later.
She explained: “[He wrote] ‘I hope your shoot on Sunday went well. Although I very much enjoyed the evening, I do not think we have a romantic future’.”
Caught off guard by his words, Vanessa admitted that she was left reeling from the revelation. “I just was not expecting that at all. I just can’t think I misread signals,” she said.
Vanessa was previously married to surgeon Michael Kurer for 17 years, from 1983 to 2000. The pair have two daughters, Allegra, 39, and Saskia, 36.
As Vanessa continues her search for love, her former partner Ben recently announced his engagement to Vanessa Brown, 29, after what is reported to be just a few weeks of dating.
