A man was rescued after the bin he was sleeping in was emptied into a recycling lorry in Bristol. Emergency services were called to reports that someone was stuck in a recycling lorry in Novers Hill, Knowle, shortly before 6am yesterday (Tuesday, February 25).
Fire crews used a ladder to rescue the man before he was taken to Bristol Royal Infirmary by ambulance. The hazardous response team were also called to the scene.
Avon Fire and Rescue Service said: “On Tuesday 25th February at 5:53 am crews from Temple Fire Station were called to reports of a person trapped in a recycling lorry, in Novers Hill, Knowle.
“Crews used a triple extension ladder and vehicle hydraulics to rescue the individual from where they were trapped. Crews also worked with ambulance on the scene.”
South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SWASFT) added: “We were called at 05:54hrs on Tuesday 25 February to an incident in Bristol. We sent one double-crewed land ambulance, an operations officer and the hazardous area response team to the scene. We conveyed one patient by land ambulance to Bristol Royal Infirmary.”
