Tim Hortons is giving the people what they want this year. The annual “Roll up to Win” contest is returning to a physical format.
The contest has been held every year for over 35 years, but it moved online in 2020 due to concerns about employees handling the physical rims during COVID-19.
The contest turned digital-only. But starting on Feb. 24, Tim Hortons has brought back cups that customers can roll up to redeem prizes.
Canadians have been excited to see the long-awaited return of the physical Roll up to Win cups and have been expressing their joy and gratitude online. “Something I never thought I’d see again….thank you @TimHortons for bringing back the ‘real’ roll up the rim contest!” @peiscooter said on X.
“The return of actual Roll Up the Rim to Win cups at Tim Hortons is proof it’s not too late—Canada can be saved,” @BethBaisch wrote.
The timing of this return couldn’t be better for some Canadians like @aydmiller, who wrote: “There’s something about @TimHortons bringing back the roll up the rim cups less than a week after beating the states in best on best hockey that just feels right, idk.”
There have also been numerous posts on TikTok and Instagram about Roll up to Win, as well as some comments on Threads.
The physical cups are back for a limited time and will only be available while supplies last.
“Guests loved celebrating the 60th anniversary of Tim Hortons with us last year and it inspired us to bring back some classic Roll Up cups this year for a limited time – get them while you can as we expect they’ll go fast!” said Hope Bagozzi, chief marketing officer for Tim Hortons.
Customers can still participate in the contest online using the Tims app. Customers earn “digital rolls” by making an account on the app and scanning their Tim Hortons rewards card. Unlike the physical version, you can earn digital rolls through food items, not just hot beverages.
Prizes this year include gift cards, free coffee, free donuts, Samsung TVs, all-inclusive vacations, smartphones, a 2025 all-electric Volkswagon.
Customers can try their luck until the contest closes on March 23. Winners can claim their food and beverage prizes in any Tim Hortons location until April 9, while all other winners have until April 29 to redeem their prizes.
