Married at First Sight UK star Shona Manderson shared that her and her boyfriend, Matt Pilmoor, are entering a new chapter of their relationship after being together for just 16 months. The couple were originally partnered with different people on the hit reality show.
Shona tied the knot with Brad Skelly, whilst Matt married Adrienne Naylor. Whilst the relationships the experts on MAFS selected didn’t work out, the two found love with each other after the show.
As the season eight and nine cast came together for a special reunion episode this weekend, Matt surprised Shona with a ring. Whilst he didn’t pop the all important question, he did present a promise ring. Shona showed off the diamond ring, joking she was “semi engaged”.
She said: “I said yes!!! I’m semi engaged to @mattpilmoor hehe love my promise ring such a cute way to end our journey on MAFS.
“Matty wanted to do something cute for me his speech was sooo special & emotional but obviously you couldn’t see it all so I’ve left it here for you guys.”
She added: “Never stop believing in love!!”
Matt’s speech began by saying: ” Where do I begin, 1 year and 4 months ago we met for the first tie within a whirlwind of a journey, in fact where we met is where we are standing right now, on a crazy show called Married at First Sight.”
He explained the reason he was ‘semi proposing’, saying: “Shona, I want to show how committed I am with this ring, and to promise you an amazing future with lots of fun, travelling and making memories.
“We never had a wedding during the experiment so please take this as a vow that one day in the near future you will be my wife, and the gorgeous mother of my children.
“You genuinely are my world and I cannot wait for our next chapter. Shona, I love you.”
The couple have previously shared that marriage is on the cards for them in future but they’re waiting until they can afford the wedding of their dreams.
Speaking to OK! Magazine, Matt shared: “We definitely want to get married. Getting married abroad would be lovely but logically we would do it in the UK for family coming. We do need money so there will be no ring anytime soon!”
During their time on the show, Shona was ejected from the experiment due to her husband Brad being accused of showing “controlling” and “manipulative” behaviour.
Appearing on the podcast ‘It’s Not You, It’s Them, But It Might Be You’, Shona said: “So majority of Bradley’s inexcusable behaviour actually happened off camera and there was an incident after our third dinner party which then resulted in the experts intervening and choosing to send us home…”
