King Charles revealed the secret to his successful partnership with Queen Camilla during a visit to a London restaurant on Wednesday.

The King, 76, and Queen Camilla, 77, were visiting Darjeeling Express on Carnaby Street ahead of the Ramadan.

“We don’t waste time. Paid by results!” the monarch quipped as the royal couple packed dates for Ramadan food parcels.

The pair impressed restaurant owner Asma Khan with their efficiency as they prepared donation boxes for hospitals.

“I never realised this was such a speedy couple,” Khan remarked, prompting laughter from the King.

Charles and Camilla sat down to pack dates into white paper bags for Iftaar, the evening meal that breaks the fast during Ramadan.

Khan said: “Sorry I didn’t realise the King would be so fast! You are packing them faster than I can seal them!”

This comment particularly tickled Charles, who giggled alongside his wife.

When told he was so quick he could have a job doing it each year, the monarch joked: “I may be past my sell-by date!”

The Queen also made her way to the kitchen to help staff pack boxes of biryani for Doorstep, a charity assisting families awaiting permanent housing.

Wielding a large spoon, Camilla joked: “They might still be a bit hungry after my portion.”

“I think my husband is supposed to be doing this,” she laughed, before seeking him out with box in hand.

The King and Queen have long shown support for other faiths in the UK and throughout the Commonwealth.

After the joint visit, the King joined a discussion with members of the British Syrian community at Imad’s Syrian Kitchen, also in Carnaby Street.

Founder Imad Eddin al Arnab, who came to the UK as a refugee in 2015, was impressed by the monarch’s knowledge saying, “He said that now more than ever he wanted to support all the democracies, especially the rising ones.”

Charles expressed sympathy for Syria, telling the group: “I’ve always wanted to go, all my life. I can’t bear the destruction.”
