Most of us strive for a good night’s sleep.

After all, we all feel better when we’re fully rested. Even so, some people can struggle to drift off into the land of nod.

Luckily for us, a neuroscientist has recently revealed that eating a specific fruit before bed could aid your slumber. He claims it could help you sleep well every night.

Robert Love, who’s known for sharing health advice on TikTok, recently opened up about the food in a recent video, and it’s got a lot of people talking. People are keen to try out the idea and see if the simple diet swap can really improve the state of their sleep.

He said: “The research shows if you eat one to two kiwis approximately two hours before sleep that greatly improves your sleep. But, it’s really important to not over-eat before sleep.”

Since he shared the simple piece of advice, hundreds of people have viewed the video and many commented too. They admitted it was “good” advice.

One person said: “Thank you so much Doc.” Another wrote: “This is a good one.”

Even though the trick is simple to implement in daily life, you may be wondering if the claim is actually true. Well, you may be surprised to know that kiwis actually boast many benefits.

Do kiwis help you sleep?

Research suggests that eating kiwis before bed can aid better sleep. This is because the fruit comprises of serotonin – a chemical that promotes sleep.

Studies have shown that eating two kiwis about an hour before bedtime can “significantly improve sleep quality”. It’s also suggested it could lengthen the duration of sleep in adults without disturbances throughout the night.

Due to the fact that kiwis are a good source of serotonin, the fruit can play a key role in regulating sleep cycles. Most research recommends eating two kiwis around an hour before you go to bed to experience the best results.

Naturally, just because you eat kiwis doesn’t mean you will never struggle with sleep. If you experience issues that are impacting your health, or worsening, you should always seek the advice of your GP.
