Good Morning Britain’s Susanna Reid didn’t miss a beat in pointing out when Daniel Mays seemingly let slip a significant ‘spoiler’ regarding his new TV role.
Susanna Reid and her colleague Richard Madeley were in conversation with the actor on the ITV morning programme this Wednesday (February 26), as he expressed his thrill about working alongside a stellar cast on Netflix’s upcoming series based on The Thursday Murder Club, a celebrated novel by Richard Osman.
The adaptation promises to convert Osman’s beloved light-hearted murder-mystery tale into a visual treat with its impressive ensemble lineup.
Richard Madeley was quick to probe Daniel Mays for details about his character, yet the actor kept mum, explaining, “I can’t tell you that yet Richard because they haven’t released who I’m playing.”

However, Daniel, known for his role in Line of Duty, inadvertently hinted at spoilers when he confessed: “I hadn’t read the book.”, reports the Manchester Evening News. ,Everyone burst out laughing as Susanna Reid playfully asked, “Was it embarrassing telling Richard that? “.
Daniel elaborated, reflecting on how he observed numerous people engrossed in the book during travel: “At every airport I was in everyone was reading the book and on the airplane and I was like what is this and now I’m in the movie.”
He added optimistically about the possibility of turning the role into an ongoing gig: “There is obviously a series of books so hopefully I’ll get a bit of work from it so fingers crossed. What Richard is great at is writing and the script is absolutely brilliant as well. He just knows the characters so well.”
Susanna couldn’t resist mentioning: “Well I think you might have just done a spoiler because of course if you’re hoping to get more work out of it then it suggests that you haven’t been killed off yet.”

Daniel was caught off guard as he responded: “Oh well there we go. You have really thrown me a curveball.” Susanna chimed in with: “yeah we have.”
This occurred just as Richard Osman gave his followers a glimpse into the possible changes for the Netflix adaptation of his bestselling book.
In his podcast The Rest Is Entertainment, which he presents alongside the esteemed journalist Marina Hyde, the Pointless genius and author covered the subject of how literature is often transformed when brought to life on screen.
Discussing his own experiences, the host of the BBC quiz show stated: “I’ve sat in so many meetings where people have said, ‘Of course, we will let you write the script.’ And I had to say, ‘I’m so sorry, I’m writing my next book.’ And also there are so many great scriptwriters out there, so it really depends on what sort of position you’re in.”
