Dragons’ Den star Sara Davies has revealed the worst thing about her £35million fortune as people expect her to put her hand in her pocket at charity events.
The 40-year-old has been one of the entrepreneurs on the popular BBC show since 2019 after making her fortune through her crafter’s supply company. According to Sara, this means people can expect her to be overly generous at events she is invited to through one of her two sons.
The Dragons’ Den panellist told the Netmums podcast: “The worst is when we get invited to go to charity events. I sit there and I’m thinking: ‘They’re expecting me to bid a lot of money to buy some footballer’s shirt that’s signed that I’ve got no interest in having.
“I’ll then have to put it up in my house because I’ve paid all that money for it. I feel the pressure then.”

Sara joined Dragons’ Den as one of its entrepreneurs in 2019. She joined long-standing panellists Peter Jones and Deborah Meaden on the show, as well as Touker Suleyman and Steven Bartlett.
The TV star also appeared in Strictly Come Dancing in 2021. She was eliminated in week eight as she was partnered with professional dancer Aljaz Skorjanec.
Sara shares two children with her husband Simon Davies, and says she uses her ‘intimidating’ personality to her advantage as well.

She told the podcast: “Do you know when I use it to my advantage though. People are quite intimidated by me often and I hate that, because if you meet me I’m the least intimidating person in the world.
“If you haven’t met me and don’t know me, just the fact I’m a dragon and I’m quite a big personality. I use it to my advantage if it’s the fundraising for the football club or the cricket club. And I always say: ‘Give me the raffle tickets, and I will go around and I will relieve you of your money.’ I’m brilliant at that sort of thing.”
It comes after she revealed her family were underwhelmed by her initial appearance on Dragons’ Den. She told Closer magazine: “At the screening party, my eldest – who was five at the time – came up to me afterwards and said, ‘Well, that wasn’t what you said it was going to be, Mummy. I thought you were a dragon’.”
