Shoppers have been going wild for a nurse-approved hand cream after it was recommended by skincare expert Nadine Baggott on an episode of This Morning. After the presenter raved about the moisturising formula on the show last month, Nursem saw record sales of their Caring Hand Cream, which saw shelves cleared of its stock.

In fact, after the show, the product sold one every thirty-six seconds in the week that followed. It was the brand’s biggest ever retail and online sales since the brand launched six years ago.

The frenzy saw the product hit the milestone of ‘Best Selling Hand Cream’ at Amazon, and went on to sell out at Boots. Now, it’s back in stock, and the best part? It’s on offer, coming in at £7.49, down from £9.99 for a single tube, or £14.99 for the bigger, 300ml pump bottle, which is usually £19.99.

Nadine, who was hosting a segment on ways to combat dry skin, praised the brand and said “This brand is really lovely. It was created originally for nurses who have the most washed, dried, stressed hands in the world. And they give products back to nurses – and I absolutely love that! Win Win!”

She added: “Nurses wash their hands more times than all of us put together and they need something that is light, that goes in quickly and doesn’t make their hands go sticky, and they can carry on working.”

Nursem’s skincare range was created by Antonia Philp, an NHS paediatric nurse, with the handcream being their most popular product. Natural but effective it works to protect hands even in the harshest of environments.

It soothes inflammation and soreness with medical grade Manuka Honey and White Willow Extract, conditions using a blend of Allantoin and Pro Vitamin B5. These immediately moisturise the skin keeping it nourished, while plant oils and Glycerin help to restore the protective barrier that retains the skin’s moisture and hydration.

Speaking on the latest craze behind Nursem, Antonia said: “We’re absolutely delighted to see such a huge sales spike in Boots and across our whole brand. We love reading the reviews and how happy our customers are with our formulas too. What I love the most is that it also means we can donate more products to nurses and midwives through our Nursem Promise.”

The Nursem Promise sees the brand gives a month’s worth of hand cream to a nurse or midwife for every product sold. It comes as nurses wash their hands approximately 55 times a day on average.

On the Boots website, the hand cream has racked up an average 4.7 star rating based on more than 100 reviews. One nurse said: “Nursem does exactly what it says on the label….after a shift in hospital as a nurse my hands are so dry and sometimes chapped from repeatedly washing them….Nursem has fixed it! Not only making my hands feel nice and soft but the smell is lovely too. Highly recommend to others!”

Another added: “This is the best hand cream I have ever used! I work in healthcare so am constantly washing my hands and usually hate the feeling of greasy hand cream. This cream absorbed really quickly and is not greasy AT ALL ! I also love the fact they donate back to other healthcare workers. I have been telling everyone i know to buy this hand cream! 100% recommend.”

Whilst another shopper added: “I’ve used so many hand creams and found nothing to be that good, and I suffer so much with sore, dry, cracked hands. I found this gem and I can not recommend it enough. It soaks right in and in just two days it has helped so much.”

Some shoppers have deducted stars, with many citing the scent as something they’re not keen on. One wrote: “Well, the smell is strong and a little strange, but acceptable. It’s thick. And I think it’s suitable to use in cold weather.” Another added: “Love the packaging. Restored my hands within days. Giving this a 4/5 because I do think there are other products that have a better impact on my nails, and the smell takes some getting used to.”

Another popular option is O’Keeffe’s Working Hands Intensive Balm and Handcream. At £16.50 for the two products on Amazon, the formula is fragrance-free making it perfect for anyone who is sensitive to scent or if you want to wear perfume without two smells fighting each other.

Or if you’re after something a little more luxurious, L’OCCITANE Shea Butter Intensive Hand Balm 150ml is £28 on Amazon. Or, natural skincare brand Salt and Stone have a trio of hand creams available for £56, which works out at £18.66 each. Shoppers can choose from a range of perfume-like fragrances, including Santal & Vetiver, Neroli & Basil or Saffron & Cedar. Or you can shop the Nursem Caring Hand Cream from £7.49 here.
