Sir Tom Jones has opened up on a close friendship he had with a music legend as he bared it all in a new interview.

He recently sat down with Gavin Rossdale for his podcast – Dinner with Gavin Rossdale – and delved deep into the star’s life and the staggering music career he achieved.

Taking to the official Dinner with Gavin Rossdale podcast Instagram page, it shared a small clip of their chat which took a look at Jones’ friendship with Frank Sinatra.

The caption of the video read: “This week on @dinnerwithgavinrossdale we have the legendary @realsirtomjones! Tune in this Thursday 10PM ET / 7PM PT on @vizio @wfplustv.”

In the clip, Jones, 84, said: “That’s the great thing about this business and meeting all of those people that I met in the 60s, starting with the British bands and then meeting all those like Frank Sinatra and… “

Interrupting, Rossdale smiled and noted: “We haven’t even spoken anything about Frank…”

The 84-year-old continued: “Frank was Frank. Frank would sit here and he was a, I drank with him a few times in the Galleria bar in Las Vegas and he was one of those guys.

“As where Elvis would be up in the suite, in the international suite, so if you wanted to see Elvis, if you were allowed to see Elvis he would be up in his suite.

“Whereas Frank was, he’d have a bodyguard around him, in the casino, bar.”

Rossdale interjected once again and said: “And then that great line where they try and offer him, he has got his drink, his Jack Daniels and they say ‘Do you want some water?’ and he says ‘No I washed my hands before I came’, he was that guy.”

Laughing at the memory, Jones added some additional information to the earlier story and said: “Funnily enough with that chat.

“He had his hand upon the glass and I said ‘so you always drink Jack and coke,’ and he said ‘Well Tom, I hurt my hand when I was younger’.

“And he said ‘the only reason I drink is the ice is in there and it’s cold and it keeps my hand cold’ and I said ‘are you serious?’.

“And he looks at me and goes ‘yeah…’ but it was all to do with his hand he said, but he was a great character.”

Fans of the musician were left excited to be able to watch the whole interview and quickly flooded the comment section.

One wrote: “Sir Tom is such a genuine regular guy, just chewing the cud with Gavin. Not pretentious nor egotistical, he’s our treasure.”

Another agreed: “Tom could have a show, just telling stories from his life experiences and of course go off into one of his many classics from time to time.”
