Royal School Armagh are the first side into the Final of the Danske Bank Schools’ Cup as they swatted aside Rainey Endowed in the first Semi-Final at Ravenhill on Tuesday afternoon.

The Armagh side ran in four tries in each half to ease to victory, scrum-half Will Boyd, fly-half Evan Hughes and winger Ryan Hamilton each scoring a brace as Jonny Gillespie’s side booked their place in the St Patrick’s Day decider.

Despite the scoreline, Rainey did make it a contest and had led early after Lorcan McLarnon’s score and had brought themselves back into it when the excellent Owen O’Kane sniped over just after the break.

But the Magherafelt side had no answer to the Armagh juggernaut, who now await the winners of Wednesday’s second Semi-Final between Wallace High and Belfast Royal Academy next month.

Another really impressive score from Armagh as a short pass from Adam Harrison to winger Hamilton sends him scurrying through the gap in the Rainey defence and he’s got enough pace to get over the line!

The boys in black have a score that, in fairness, I’d say they do deserve as a maul powers over the line and hooker Eoin McGuckin is the one who has dotted down.

A well finished score from Armagh as a kick in behind from Evan Hughes is run onto by Zakir Majid and although Rainey are able to scramble back in defence, there is Hughes down the blindside to finish right in the corner!
