Prince William has been forced to delete and correct a social media post after making an error in his announcement about meeting England’s new football manager.
The Prince of Wales shared a photo of himself with Thomas Tuchel at Windsor Castle following his return to royal duties after a family holiday.
William initially posted on X: “Great to meet new @england manager Thomas Tuchel for the first time today, and hear about plans for the team.”
Minutes later, the post was deleted and replaced with a corrected version that included the word “men’s” before “manager”.

The correction was seen necessary as William had failed to acknowledge that Tuchel is specifically the men’s team manager, while Sarina Wiegman serves as head coach of the women’s team.
William has previously shown support for both England national teams.
In 2023, he presented Wiegman, who took charge of the Lionesses in September 2021, with a CBE.
The Dutch international has experienced success since taking over the England side, with the Lionesses having won four pieces of silverware, most notably including the EURO 2022 trophy.

William edited the caption with a corrected version that included the word “men’s” before “manager”.
The Prince’s correction reflects his awareness of the importance of recognising both national teams.
The German-born Tuchel officially took over the England men’s team in January following Gareth Southgate’s departure.
William, who served as President of the Football Association for almost 20 years, is a passionate football fan that regularly attends matches.
The Prince of Wales stepped back as his position as President in July 2024 after being appointed in 2005.
