BBC Breakfast‘s Naga Munchetty, known for her impeccable on-screen style, recently shared a fashion faux pas on Alan Carr’s Life’s A Beach podcast. The London-born presenter recalled buying two pairs of dungarees, a decision that didn’t go down well with her husband.
“I decided I was going to buy some dungarees,” she said. “I haven’t worn dungarees, probably since I was about six, and I thought ‘I’m regressing, so I’m going to embrace that’. So I bought two pairs of dungarees.”
While the first pair, a conventional dark blue set, were fine, the second pair, pale denim shorts-dungarees, were definitely not as successful.

Naga recalled: “The second pair were pale denim shorts-dungarees. Quite cool. But I put them on…I’m usually really confident about what I buy, and what I wear. I know what suits me, I’d like to think.”
She continued: “But I thought ‘Oh, I’m not quite sure about these’. So I went over to my husband, James, and said ‘What do you think?'”.
Celebrating her 50th birthday today, Naga was surprised by her husband’s reaction: “He looked at me. He bent over double. I won’t even try to imitate the sounds he made.
“He went ‘Oh my gosh, you look like Humpty Dumpty’. They went straight back in the bag and were returned,” reports Lancs Live.

She concluded by saying that while she doesn’t mind being mistaken for a children’s TV character, looking like a cartoon character was a step too far.
Naga, known for her confident style, admitted that she has had a few fashion missteps on screen. During an interview with Paul Merton on BBC2’s Room 101, Naga revealed she doesn’t often heed viewer fashion advice except for one notable incident: “There’s only one time I’ve taken it on board and never worn an outfit again,” she confessed.
She described how a geometric print dress she wore on Breakfast received complaints for causing migraines: “I wore this dress on breakfast and it had a geometric print and two people said it was causing them migraines, so I said ‘Absolutely fine, I won’t wear that again’.”
Moreover, another dress choice featuring numerous eyes resulted in unsettling feedback, with Naga sharing: “Two people emailed in saying it was scaring them and giving the nightmares. So that one I have worn since but I haven’t worn it much.”
