Meghan Markle has received a major boost as the owner of an independent clothing business has dropped plans for legal action against the Duchess of Sussex over her ‘As Ever’ brand name.

Mark Kolski, who runs New York vintage clothing studio ‘As Ever NYC’, was previously reported to be considering taking legal action against Meghan’s decision to rebrand her company with the same name as his business.

The 58-year-old designer has now revealed he is no longer pursuing legal action against the duchess.

Instead, Kolski said he is simply “going back to work” and focusing on his own brand.

Speaking to the New York Times, Kolski denied any conflict with the duchess over the name.

He said: “I’m not trying to mount some legal offensive here.

“Right now, I’m just going back to work, and I’m trying to keep the awareness on my brand.

“What it feels like is out there people are making comments, and the media they want to create a rift between us, but there isn’t.”

Kolski confirmed he had consulted his brother, an attorney, who advised he did have “some rights”, but ultimately decided against taking action.

Meghan recently rebranded her “American Riviera Orchard” company to “As Ever” just weeks before the launch of her Netflix show.

The rebrand has sparked controversy with several businesses operating under the same name.

A sleepy Mallorca village also considered legal action, accusing Meghan’s company of copying its coat of arms for the As Ever logo.

The rebrand also faced challenges, triggering a plagiarism dispute in Spain with the logo appearing rather similar to the Porreres Coat of Arms

Trademark filings reveal ambitious plans for the brand, including hospitality services, “self-care” seminars and various merchandise.

However, Meghan has been barred from selling clothing under the “As Ever” name due to similarity with a Chinese company.

Meghan’s cooking and entertaining show “With Love, Meghan” will launch on Netflix on March 4 after the programme was originally scheduled for January but was postponed due to LA wildfires.

In a recent announcement video, she told fans: “In two weeks my show is coming out, which I’m so excited for.”
