At this time of year, it’s not uncommon to feel lethargic and sluggish. While the seemingly endless winter may be partly to blame, it could also indicate that your gut needs a reset.

If you’re experiencing frequent bloating, gas, constipation or diarrhoea, it might be time to rejuvenate your digestive system. Other signs that dietary changes should be in the agenda may include fatigue, brain fog, food cravings, skin problems or weakened immunity.

Feeding your body with nutritious foods can help restore balance to your digestive system. Jessny, the dietitian behind the Instagram account @makeitbrunch, has shared her favourite soup recipe for when a gut reset is in order.

The food influencer swears by her Golden Chickpea Orzo Soup, which is loaded with protein, fibre, and immunity-boosting ingredients like turmeric, ginger, chickpeas, miso and spinach.

Chickpeas aid in a gut reset by providing fibre, prebiotics, and protein, while turmeric balances gut bacteria with its potent antioxidant curcumin. This wholesome recipe is designed to promote digestion and longevity while delivering a comforting, flavourful experience, reports Surrey Live.

Jessny, a Canadian dietitian, enthusiastically shared her secret soup recipe. She proudly exclaimed: “I’m a dietitian and this is the soup I make to boost my immune system. It has 20 grams of protein and 15 plants per serving and comes together in under 30 minutes.”

To create her nutritious soup at home start by roasting veggies with added spices, miso and tahini for flavour. Then, add in chickpeas, broth, orzo and coconut milk, allowing them to cook through.

Finish off the soup by mixing in spinach and a squeeze of lemon before serving.

Jessny raved about her recipe, describing it as “so simple, but so delicious.”

To truly reap the benefits of a gut reset, it is also recommended to steer clear of processed foods, refined sugar, artificial sweeteners, alcohol and caffeine as well as inflammatory foods such as dairy, gluten and fried foods if they cause bloating or discomfort.
