If you’re looking to book a beautiful European city break, one of Bristol Airport’s newest destinations is perfect.

From this summer tourists will be able to fly directly to a Swiss gem from Bristol Airport, expanding the travel opportunities for locals. Announced last year, Swiss airline Edelweiss will fly between Bristol and Zurich from June 2025.

Currently, return flights for one person are roughly £166 on the SWISS airlines website and for around £40 you can add checked baggage to both flights.

On Bristol Airport’s website, travellers are invited to: “Stroll through the historic Old Town and explore quaint cafes or boutique shops. Art lovers will enjoy the Kunsthaus, one of Switzerland’s top art museums, while the Bahnhofstrasse is perfect for high-end shopping.

The largest city in Switzerland with a population of approximately 420,000, Zurich is described as having “metropolitan charm” and “breathtaking nature”.

SWISS airlines describes Zurich as: “a city known for its special flair. It’s a cosy city, but yet there is always something happening. Characterised by a beautiful mountain panorama and Lake Zurich, it’s no wonder that the city, which is considered by many to be the most beautiful in Switzerland, attracts many travellers year after year.”

Tourists can visit “cultural highlights” such as museums and galleries, as well as enjoy the delicious food and drink on offer in cafes and restaurants.

Kunsthaus Zürich is one of my most popular museums in the city, one review read: “Amazing museum to visit with European paintings from different countries and centuries, with an emphasis on Swiss and French art. There is a special collection there called The Buhrle Collection which includes works by the Impressionists, the Nabis, the Fauves, the Cubists and other representatives of the French avant-garde after 1900. Older art is represented by the great Dutch 17th century and Venetian masters.”

And there is of course Lake Zurich for visitors to admire in the summer, and for those who enjoy nightlife, the city has many clubs and bars that are open until the early hours.

Flights will depart from Bristol twice a week, on Mondays and Fridays, between June and September 2025 and are available to book now.
