Finding a good pair of children’s headphones can be difficult. A few might now be so easy to users, while others have a lifespan of months rather than years. Groov-e is hoping it has found the right balance with an upgraded version of its popular Kidz headphones, released earlier this month.

New features include a volume limiter and integrated mic, while the headphones have been given a design refresh to give them a modern look – either in pink or blue – while keeping the robustness that they need.

The new volume limiter with adjustable sound levels is controlled by the switch, so parents to set the limit to 85db or 100db to protect little one’s ears, while the 40mm drivers offer decent enough sound quality for the price.

Another new feature is the integrated mic, which kids can use for video chats with friends and family or mobile gaming. Battery life is excellent, with some 20-hours of playback meaning you won’t get caught short on a long trip.

The option to connect via Bluetooth or 3.5mm jack with included cable means they’re compatible with most modern devices. I found the Kidz to be a very solid device, simple enough for youngsters to use but strong enough to survive the odd bump and scrape.

The new Groov-e Kidz, which replace their previous iteration of the same name, are available now for £17.99 from Groov-e and Amazon.
