Jos Verstappen has expressed concerns about Red Bull’s future competitiveness as the team heads into the 2025 Formula 1 season.
The father of four-time world champion Max Verstappen is particularly worried about the team’s ability to bounce back from their disappointing 2024 campaign.
Despite Max securing his fourth consecutive drivers’ title last year, Red Bull’s performance notably declined throughout the season.
The elder Verstappen’s apprehension extends beyond the current season, with particular focus on the team’s capability to develop a competitive car under new regulations.

His comments come as speculation mounts about his son’s future with the Milton Keynes-based team.
“You dont know how the others are doing, so everything is new,” Jos Verstappen told RaceXpress. “Next week they are going to test and then you can see a bit of what is happening, but not quite yet.”
“So it is a matter of waiting and hoping that Red Bull has made a good car, because that is incredibly important for Max,” he added.

The veteran racer expressed further concern about Red Bull’s development capabilities.
“If they cant get out of it now, you do worry for the years after that. So were optimistic, but we do want to see it move forward,” he stated.
Red Bull’s 2024 season highlighted a dramatic decline in performance for the championship-winning team.
After a strong start to the year, the team managed just two victories in the final 14 races of the season.
The downturn in results saw Red Bull slip from the top of the Constructors’ Championship to third place.
By the season finale in Abu Dhabi, the team was battling with Mercedes merely to be considered the third-fastest on the grid.
Max ‘s fourth title victory was widely regarded as a testament to his driving ability rather than the car’s performance.
Amid Red Bull’s struggles, speculation continues about Max Verstappen’s potential move to rival teams for 2026.
Both Mercedes and Aston Martin have been linked – though the latter team have distanced themselves from speculation they’re eyeing a deal.
