Married At First Sight UK’s last season was filled with heated disputes, and its cast is set to hit our screens again.
Among the returning stars is Walsall’s own Sacha Jones. The bride from the ninth season quickly formed a bond with her partner Ross McCarthy and they subsequently got married.
However, their relationship didn’t survive post-show, with the 30-year-old beautician revealing she was brutally dumped via text message. While Sacha is due to reappear in the eagerly awaited Married At First Sight (MAFS) reunion tonight, Ross is noticeably absent from the coveted line-up.
As viewers eagerly anticipate the unfolding drama, here’s what the TV star has been up to since the show.
Brutal split
Despite making it through the experiment, their romance crumbled away from the cameras. In an honest conversation with OK! Magazine, Sacha described her relationship with her ex from Manchester as ‘dark.’
“When I think of my time with Ross after the show, it’s just dark. Dark. I can’t think of one happy memory after the show. It was awful. The last happy memory I have is going to the first reunion together and putting on a strong front,” she told the magazine, reports the Daily Record.
After their time on the show, Ross moved into Sacha’s home in Walsall, but the couple soon encountered problems in their marriage. They eventually ended things after Sacha asked the 32-year-old to leave her house, advising him to seek help for his “anger issues.”
She alleges that the end of her marriage came with a harsh text message from him, stating: “We’re done, I’m ending it. Don’t text me again please, take care.”
Just weeks after, Ross expressed his new love in an Instagram post captioned: “The moment I been waiting for…. The real deal. My world.”
Sacha told OK! about her reaction to his post, revealing: “My heart dropped when I saw the pictures. I felt physically sick.”
Post-split, the reality TV star embraced Christianity, leading her to a new kind of ‘marriage.’
New marriage
In a TikTok video, the MAFS alum announced she ‘got married’ again in an unconventional way saying, “I got married again,” but clarifying: “To our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.”
She went on to explain wearing a purity ring symbolising “just represents your commitment to God and vowing to stay abstinent until marriage.”
While on MAFS, she was clear about her abstinence, but now her faith has deepened this commitment.
In November, she made her dedication to Christ official by being baptised at a local church in Walsall. Celebrating the significant event, she took to Instagram to post photos and shared insights into her newfound faith through the caption.
In a candid social media post, the former reality star shared her struggles with reconciling her past life with her newfound faith.
“As my life before Christ gets aired on TV I’ve found it quite hard to balance the world between my past and present. The line is blurred and I’m not sure which is reality anymore. I’ve found myself playing up to my ‘villain era’ as a bit of a giggle and maybe even a coping mechanism,” she penned.
She continued, “And although a bit of banter can be harmless, I have to remember I’m out here representing Yeshua (Jesus) now and not lose sight of my purpose.”
She concluded her heartfelt message by saying, “The Lord has given me a life line, without him atm [at the moment] I would not of the strength I do. Glory to God! Remember, only God can judge you and Jesus loves you.”
Future partner
Since embracing Christianity, the beauty queen has set clear expectations for any potential partner. In an interview with Best Magazine, she outlined her priorities: “Well first and foremost, they would have to be Christian.”
She elaborated on the importance of shared faith, stating, “Because my faith is just so important to me now and I just don’t think they’d ever get it if they wasn’t. Or at least open to God and the idea of my beliefs.”
