Shopping writer Nina Crighton has revealed secrets from Boots beauty counters, divulging insider info about the in-demand makeup that had customers clamouring. During her two-and-a-half-year tenure at Boots, she noticed shoppers couldn’t get enough of KVD Beauty’s Good Apple Skin-Perfecting Foundation Balm.

This popular item set social media alight when tattoo icon and cosmetics maven Kat Von D handed over the reins to Kendo Brands, leading to the brand’s 2020 revamp as KVD Vegan Beauty. Shortly after the rebranding, the Good Apple balm dropped and promptly sent TikTok into a frenzy with its unique balm texture and capabilities for full coverage that aims to minimise pores.

This gem is yours for £34 at Boots, though there’s a sweet deal slashing it to £27.20 at LookFantastic, reports MyLondon. Perfect for hiding all flaws, including tattoos, this foundation is meant to be applied lightly and built up as desired, offering a range from light to the deepest shades.

Although Nina admitted, “I didn’t get the chance to test the product myself, as it was always sold out,” she swatched one of the testers on the back of her hand to feel the texture. “It instantly covered any veins on my hand, felt thick, and did have a glow,” she revealed.

Beauty aficionados are buzzing about this foundation — among the rave reviews, one satisfied customer proclaimed: “I’ve tried every foundation, and this one is unbeatable. I have dry skin, but this foundation isn’t bad for me.”

One reviewer raved: “So full coverage lasts longer as you only need a little bit. My favourite part is that it wears well throughout the day; it almost gets better the longer you wear it.”

Sarah was equally impressed, saying, “This is the best foundation I’ve ever used! It has great coverage but is a light/thin product. Every other foundation on me transfers or separates throughout the day, but this doesn’t. I’m going to buy this forever.”

Samantha also wrote, “I love this product! It blends like butter and feels like satin on the skin. It’s one of the best products I’ve bought in a long time. The brush I bought with it is also amazing because I bought the bundle. I highly recommend doing that.”

However, not all users were completely satisfied. Leanne had issues with the shade, saying, “The formula itself is great, but the shade was way off. I have fair, neutral skin, which made me look like a ghost.”

Kathleen gave a mixed review, stating, “This product is a little thick and cakey. It does conceal imperfections, however.” Nina also mentioned that the product felt thick, which may be a consideration for some buyers.

Alternatively, Shiseido’s Synchro Skin Radiant Lifting Foundation is a hit with shoppers, with reviewers saying it’s “seamless to apply and lasted all day.” The formula comprises radiant microcrystals, argan oil, and glycerine, all working together to help smooth and firm the skin and create a luminous appearance.

Otherwise, Rimmel’s Match Perfection Foundation is an affordable alternative, coming in at £9.99. It’s available in 25 shades and has added SPF20 for sun protection.
