Two men were arrested in Bristol yesterday (February 18) after they were spotted breaking into the grounds of a primary school during the half-term break.

Police were called shortly after 3.20pm on Tuesday to reports of someone climbing into the grounds of Whitehall Primary School. Officers attended and found that a school shed had been broken into.

Whilst police were carrying out enquiries at the scene, they received reports of a second person. This lead to two men – one in his 20s and one in his 30s – being arrested on suspicion of burglary other than a dwelling.

One was arrested in nearby Gratitude Road, and the other in the East Park area. The man in his 20s was further arrested for going equipped to steal. Both remain in police custody at this time.

Whitehall Primary School is currently closed to staff and students, as it is half-term. It is not believed that anyone was in the school at the time of the incident.

Crime Scene Investigators also attended, and other enquiries continue. Some of the stolen items have been found and returned. Anyone with any footage or information which could help is asked to call 101, giving reference number 5225043631.
