Adil Ray, a familiar face on Good Morning Britain, often fills in when regular hosts Richard Madeley and Ed Balls are away.
Despite his own presenting duties on ITV’s Lingo, the 50-year-old is embarking on a new venture.
This week, it was announced that Adil is joining Smooth Radio to host his own Saturday mid-morning programme, which will launch on Saturday March 1 and air between 10am and 1pm.
Adil is no stranger to Smooth Radio, having been a guest presenter over Christmas and New Year. Speaking about his permanent role, Adil had nothing but excitement.
He said: “Joining the Smooth family really feels like I am coming home. It’s no surprise that millions up and down the country are coming together to make Smooth their home too.

“I cannot wait to spend Saturday mornings with you, the best time of the week! Whether you’re at work, doing housework, homework or on the road, please join me for quite simply the best music in the world!”
When Adil was guest presenting last year, he confessed that radio was “the best job in the world'”.
Adil isn’t the only Good Morning Britain star at the station. Kate Garraway has been part of Smooth Radio for over a decade, first joining in 2014.
Kate’s show will continue to air weekdays from 10 am. to 1 pm. In addition to Adil joining, the station is also having some other presenting shake-ups, reports the Manchester Evening News.

Tina Hobley is set to delight fans with an additional weekend show, while Darren Parks takes over as the new host of The Smooth Sanctuary.
Sally Ardis, Senior Managing Editor of Heart, Smooth, Classic FM, and Gold Radio, expressed her excitement about the station’s growth and upcoming changes: “As we celebrate another record-breaking set of audience figures, with more than 7.8 million people now tuning in to Smooth each week, we’re excited to offer our listeners new shows powered by the best music.”
She added: “It’s fantastic to welcome Adil Ray to our Smooth family and to announce a second weekend show for Tina Hobley and the brilliant Darren Parks as the new host of The Smooth Sanctuary.”
