York Regional Police are appealing for witnesses after a senior male pedestrian was fatally struck in Markham on Monday around 2:50 p.m.

Cops say the victim, a 78-year-old man from Toronto, was struck by a sedan in the Reeser and Elgin Mills Rds. area while he was working to push his vehicle out of a snow bank.

Despite life-saving efforts, the victim was pronounced dead on the scene. The driver of the sedan remained and there were no other injuries.
