Carol Kirkwood faced a brief disruption during her weather segment on Wednesday’s BBC Breakfast. The show briefly came to a stop and a producer was forced to step in and help Carol as she had forgotten her remote.

Jon Kay and Sarah Campbell welcomed Carol before she began: “Good morning, both. Have you noticed it is still quite cold where we are this morning, but temperatures are actually going to rise.”

In response to her claim, Jon queried, “Really?” and added, “We have been waiting, Carol, all week.”

With a chuckle, Carol replied: “Well, they are definitely going to rise within the next couple of days.”

While commencing her report, Carol acknowledged someone off-camera, nodding towards a producer seconds before letting the viewers know, “Excuse me just a second while I pick this up,” reports the Express.

A producer soon appeared on screen to provide Carol with the remote, allowing her to cycle through her visuals as she resumed her report.

This television gaffe was not Carol’s sole on-air hiccup this week. After mistakenly referring to her as Sally, Carol expressed regret to her co-host, Sarah. Sally Nugent usually partners with Jon from Monday to Wednesday, yet Sarah stood in this week due to half term.

During the mix-up, Carol said, “It’s Thursday that we’ll all be in that milder air, Jon and Sal,” promptly correcting herself afterward.

The BBC star was visibly taken aback as she exclaimed: “Sarah! Sorry.”

However, despite Carol’s slip-up prompting laughter from the presenters, events took an unexpected twist when the camera abruptly switched to another presenter at the BBC London Breakfast news desk.

Realising she was now on air, the unintentional star of the moment shot a bewildered look into the camera while Jon and Sarah’s voices were still audible in the backdrop.

Sarah’s voice could be detected off-screen, proclaiming, “I didn’t hear what she said! ” whilst Jon chimed in with, “Shh, don’t tell her, don’t tell her.”

When the broadcast eventually cut back to the studio, showing Jon and Sarah on the couch, the host playfully addressed Carol: “Thanks, Helen!”

BBC Breakfast airs daily at 6am on BBC One.
