A woman’s body has been recovered from the water close to Groomsport Harbour on Tuesday as the public have been urged to avoid the area.

The body of a woman was recovered from the water earlier this morning.

Emergency services attended Groomsport Harbour at around 10.35am on Tuesday.

A PSNI spokesperson said officers remain at the scene and have confirmed the death is not being treated as suspicious.

Local councillor, David Chambers, issued an appeal on social media calling for the public to stay away from the scene.

He said: “I’m aware of an ongoing incident at Groomsport Harbour.

“I would ask members of the public to stay away while emergency services attend the scene. Thank you.”
