Martin and Shirlie Kemp’s daughter Harley Moon Kemp has opened up about her “disaster” love life, as she admits still longing for a romance like her parents.

While the famous pair have been happily married since 1988, the 35-year-old singer said she has encountered a series of unsuccessful relationships, including one with a man who led a secret double life.

The singer explained: “No one’s ever done anything romantic for me. I can’t think of one thing! I’ve walked into some real disasters.

“One even had a fake Instagram, a girlfriend and a kid. I messaged the girlfriend and said I thought we were both being taken for a ride.”

Harley also recounted a particularly terrible date in London’s Camden, which required intervention from bar staff.

The singer said witnessing her parents’ genuine affection for each other has a “strong influence” on what she is looking for in her own love life.

Harley, whose brother is presenter Roman Kemp, fondly described scenes of them dancing together and small acts of kindness, such as her dad preparing the car for her mum to ensure it’s warm beforehand.

Discussing her preferences and turn-offs in a potential partner, she shared on the Suddenly Single podcast: “The worst thing they can do is name drop.

“If my family heard me talking like that, they’d be embarrassed. I want someone who is kind, not showing off the second they meet me.”

Martin and Shirlie have openly shared their thoughts on Harley and Roman being yet to follow in their footsteps romantically.

Speaking to Hello! Magazine, Shirlie expressed her laidback attitude about their life choices, revealing: “I’m not bothered that they’re not married or have children. I think the world is a scary place. But if my kids get married, I want to be there.”

Sharing his views on potentially being a grandfather one day, Martin added: “If it happened tomorrow, I would love it, absolutely love it.

“But I won’t be chasing them – if it happens, it happens. That’s their choice.”

Shirlie also offered an insight into the longevity of their marriage, attributing it to the little things that keep their bond strong.

She affectionately added of her spouse: “He’s still the best-looking man I’ve ever seen. And I still fancy him.”
