Fans of The Chase were left amused after spotting an unexpected connection between the contestants.
On Monday’s episode, Bradley Walsh returned to host the popular ITV quiz show, welcoming four new hopefuls – Dale, Leslie, Orla and Gordon.
The group faced off against Paul ‘The Sinnerman’ Sinha, who was on top form. However, before the game began, viewers took to social media platform X after noticing a peculiar link between the contestants’ names and types of cheese.
The names Gordon Ola and Leslie Dale were found to bear a striking resemblance to Gorgonzola and Wensleydale respectively, much to the amusement of fans. One viewer wrote: “I just realised the strained attempt of the cheese pun. God dammit” while another commented: “Most cheesiest and cringiest names ever”.

Highlighting the ‘cheese’ pun online, another fan noted: “Gordon Ola and Leslie Dale. Two types of cheese.”
The first contestant, Dale, managed to earn £3,000 in the cash-builder round but faltered in the head-to-head round with the Chaser. Ice cream vendor Leslie was next, also earning £3,000 in the cash builder, but unfortunately, he too was caught out, reports the Express.
Orla, another team member, followed suit and also bagged £3,000 in the cash builder round but was quickly caught by the comedian. The last contestant to step up was Gordon who set a new record for the team, amassing an impressive £6,000 in the cash builder.

He then proved his mettle in the head-to-head round, securing his spot in the final round. Despite his best efforts and correctly answering 12 questions in two minutes, Paul managed to catch Gordon with one successful pushback with 47 seconds left on the clock.
This isn’t the first time the show has grouped four players with related names. In one episode, Shelley, Cliff, Coral and Sandy formed a team, prompting fans to make beach-themed jokes on social media throughout the show.
Another episode featured Tony, Steve, Thor, and Natasha, with viewers quickly noticing the Avengers theme in the players’ names, even leading to Chaser Darragh ‘The Menace’ Ennis joining in the fun on the show.
The Chase airs on weekdays from 5pm on ITV1 or catch up on ITVX.
