A large fashion chain is set to close a dozen stores across the country. Select Fashion, which owns a total of 102 stores in the UK, fell into administration in 2019 and was bought out by Genus UK Limited. Initially owned by Turkish entrepreneur Cafer Mahiroğlu, the retailer went into a Compulsory Voluntary Arrangement (CVA) last year.
This ensures that a business can undergo a restructure while still being able to trade as usual, according to Companies House filings. While this happens, the business can negotiate any of its outstanding debt and pay them off over time.
Previously, Select Fashion confirmed it was closing nine stores, with an additional three now confirmed in Bristol and Worksop. The Bristol location in Broadmead and Broadwalk Shopping Centre have reportedly launched a sale to help get rid of stock ahead of the closures.
Similarly, a 25% sale has been launched at the Worksop location ahead of expectations that the store will close in the first week of March. A report from The Sun suggested that employees have already been informed of the closures taking place, although solid dates for each closure have not yet been confirmed.
The retailer’s sites in Wolverhampton and Kidderminster already closed their doors at the start of this year, with several more in Ipswich, Cwmbram, Kent, and London also being set to shut down.

It comes as a number of other UK high street chains announced closures across 2025.
Last month, it was confirmed that fashion retailer Quiz could close all 60 of its stores while HomeBase confirmed it would close over 33 stores across February. The retailer was bought out of administration in November after being purchased by The Range owner CDS in a rescue deal that secured 70 stores and up to 1,600 jobs.
However, it is not yet clear what will happen to the remaining 49 stores and 2,000 employees. The high street DIY retailer said that all affected workers will be provided at least two weeks’ notice of their redundancy dates in the form of a home letter while all wages and benefits will be paid for their period of employment.
Select Fashion was founded in 1988 and earned a reputation for offering affordable and trendy clothes geared towards women. Its reputation also grew as a more affordable alternative to other well-known high street stores across the UK.
