Vernon Kay has shared a humorous story about his awkward encounter with former Prime Minister Tony Blair.
Speaking on his BBC Radio 2 show on Monday, Vernon, 50, said his wife Tess Daly was left fuming after he made a wolf sound while at a private dinner at Chequers.
After hearing the word ‘wolves’ mentioned by the show’s newsreader Harvey, Vernon confessed it sent a “sent a shiver” down his spine.
He proceeded to explain: “Back in the day, Tess and I got invited to Chequers to have dinner with the Prime Minister.
“And at Chequers, the kitchen is run by the RAF and it’s amazing, fantastic wine, a great dinner, you spend time in an intimate setting with the Prime Minister.
“And this is way back when, and we were sat down with Tony and Cherie Blair, and a couple of other dignitaries.”
Vernon said When Tony pointed out the “beautiful full moon”, he couldn’t help but make a wolf sound.

“I had had a couple I’ll be honest with you,” he added on his show. “And I went ‘Tony, I know, I know, I [wolf howl].”
Reflecting on the incident with laughter, he said: “It brought the conversation to a grinding halt, and I got the sharpest elbow from Strictly Come Dancing’s Tess Daly, just a complete bang.”
When asked if that was his last invitation to Chequers, he confirmed: “Absolutely, that was done, me done.”
Vernon previously mentioned the encounter on the 2020 series of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!, which particularly intrigued his co-star at the time, Beverley Callard.
He shared that although Tess was worried about his behaviour, the politician and his wife seemed rather unfazed and even offered the pair a tour of the premises.
Reflecting on the experience, he added: “You just think, big decisions have been made in these rooms and then Tess Daly from Strictly Come Dancing and Vernon Kay from Family Fortunes walk in.”
Beverley said in response: “You just don’t expect that in Chequers do you, I want to go.”
