Despite being the shortest month of the year, February boasts numerous free things to do in Bristol – especially during the February half term holidays. These range from crafty activities for the whole family at some of the city’s famous venues, to soaking in the sights and sounds at some of Bristol’s landmarks and museums.

And you won’t need to spend a single penny to enter or take part. We’ve already written a few lists of things you can do this February Half Term, as well as general things you can do all year round in Bristol. But, this time, we’ve compiled a list of some more eclectic – and free – things to get stuck into around the city before the month is over.

From free lunch and produce, to crafty workshops, baking, a weekly club for women, a free rave, a wedding showcase, and even a comedy Roast – there’s plenty to keep you busy this February… And even beyond.

When: February 25, March 25, April 22 (7.30-10pm)

Where: 17-18 King Street, Bristol, BS1 4EF

Back by popular demand, The Famous Royal Navy Volunteer is hosting the Comedy Loft Roast Battles, described as ‘the meanest but funniest show you’ll see this side of the Severn’.

You’ll see comedians battle against each other, trading one liners and put downs to get the better of their opponents and win the 4th annual Comedy Loft Roast Battle tournament. Some 16 comics start, but there can be only be one King or Queen of the Roast left standing to win £300 at the final in April.

The heats in January have already taken place, with eight quick-fire battles whittling the 16 competitors down to just eight for the quarter-finals in February. This month’s show will see four battles to make it through to the semi-finals in March, where four more battles will take place, before the Grand Final in April, featuring the very best of the tournament.

Judges, experienced acts around the southwest circuit, will warm up the night with their own jokes for the host and then choose the overall Roast winner of Bristol. You can expect to see ‘boxing meets comedy’ but with the only damage inflicted being to the comics’ egos. Free Entry, with the option to donate on the door, if you wish.
