Fragrance fans love a £28 scent from a high-street store that smells much more expensive than it is. According to impressed reviewers, Lush’s Sticky Dates Body Spray is the “most amazing fragrance”. As a reviewer wrote on Lush’s website: “I’ve been very tempted to gatekeep this product when people ask what it is but it’s too good not to share.”
For similar reasoning, I wanted to share my thoughts on the popular spray. I purchased Lush’s Sticky Dates Body Spray at the end of last year — even though I normally stick to Eau de Parfum (EDP) — and I was amazed to find it outperformed many of my expensive perfumes. Just one spritz of the sweet-smelling caramel spray lasts for hours, and every time I wear it, it gets lots of compliments.
Recently, a stranger even stopped me in a post office after recognising the scent. “You’re wearing Lush’s Sticky Dates, aren’t you?” she asked. “I have it. I love Rose Jam, too.” I wasn’t surprised. I ended up getting three compliments during my one-hour outing. It’s a common experience for Lush shoppers, according to reviewers.
Reviewing the fragrance, described by Lush as a “velvety blend of benzoin resinoid and sandalwood”, a shopper wrote: “If you like very gourmand and sweet smells, this is the one. Very long-lasting, more so than many EDP perfumes and I have many compliments when out and about.”
Someone else shared: “This is the most amazing fragrance I’ve ever worn, it’s incredible. I get compliments wherever I go. The smell is out of this world. I highly recommend this 10/10. Lasts all day and at £28 it’s a good price also, already ordered my next bottle.”

Another fan added: “Tried this in store, only sprayed once and it stayed the entire day. It also projects like a perfume. I was sitting at a coffee shop and I would get sudden whiffs of myself. Really a lovely product.”
However, not everyone enjoyed the fragrance, as the Mirror reports. One unhappy customer said: “After seeing so many positive reviews here and on social media I decided to purchase this as I am a lover of caramel and gourmand scents. This just smells like old raisins and black liquorice in the worst way possible.”
Another commented: “This is the worst body spray I have ever used. It smells nothing like caramel or dates just melted candle wax. Even £3 body sprays smell better.” Someone else thought the fragrance “makes you smell like an air freshener.”
If you do like the scent, there’s also a £27 Lush Sticky Dates Shower Gel. Other Lush fragrances include Zesty Body Spray and Let The Good Times Roll Body Spray. Elsewhere, shoppers Boots offers a £30 Sabrina Carpenter Caramel Dream Eau De Parfum 30ml.
