A 24-year-old Toronto man is facing charges after a tow truck fatally struck a pedestrian in December.
Toronto Police said they responded to a personal injury collision on Dec. 16 at about 7 p.m. in the Weston-Rogers Rd. area west of downtown after a male pedestrian was struck by a vehicle, transported to a hospital and later died.
Police said a 24-year-old man was operating a 2016 Chevrolet Silverado tow truck northbound on Weston in the left-hand turn lane at the time, while a 55-year-old woman was operating a 2021 Toyota Rav 4 southbound on Weston in the opposite left-hand turn lane.
A male pedestrian was in the centre lane on Weston waiting to cross the road before being struck by the Silverado. The pedestrian then struck the Rav 4.
Michael Rodrigues was arrested on Thursday and charged with dangerous operation of a conveyance causing death.
