Police said one of the men was struck in the head with a firearm before being transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The suspect fled and investigators have been unable to locate him since then, police said.

“Investigators urge the suspect to seek legal counsel and turn himself in,” Sgt. Joanne Bortoluss said. “Anyone with information on his whereabouts is encouraged to come forward.

COPS ISSUE WARNING AFTER GIRL ALLEGEDLY GROOMED

Police said they are concerned about the potential for more victims after a 21-year-old Toronto man was charged with sex crimes involving a minor.

Durham Regional Police said they began an investigation on Feb. 7 after learning that a 14-year-old girl was being groomed for human trafficking. She was contacted unsolicited by a man on Snapchat, who said he was 18 years old and went by the name “Ace.”

The victim, according to police, told the man she was 14, but he continued to contact her before they met up on “several occasions.”

Police said they executed a search warrant on Wednesday at a residence on Brimley Rd. in Scarborough and arrested a man without incident.

Hammad Abowath is charged with sexual interference with a person under 16 years of age and invitation to sexual touching under 16 years of age.
