As many as three unidentified suspects are sought after a failed armed carjacking attempt in Richmond Hill on Thursday night.

York Regional Police said officers were called at about 6:30 p.m. to a commercial plaza in the West Beaver Creek Rd.-Leslie St. area for a report of a carjacking attempt.

On scene, officers learned that a black pickup truck stopped behind the victim’s vehicle while they were seated inside. Cops said two male suspects, armed with at least one firearm, exited and approached the driver-side window to try to steal the victim’s vehicle.

Police said a third suspect, believed to be the driver, remained in the pickup truck.

The victim was able to flee from the scene and wasn’t injured.

The suspects are described as males, wearing dark clothing with reflective trim and face coverings.

The suspect vehicle is described as a black pickup truck with a crew cab.

DRIVER CHARGED AFTER PEDESTRIAN FATALLY STRUCK

A 45-year-old Toronto man is facing several charges after a pedestrian was fatally struck in Scarborough last month.

Toronto Police said they received a report on Nov. 21 at about 11:50 p.m. of a personal injury collision in the Kennedy Rd.-McNicoll Ave. area.

It’s alleged that a 71-year-old pedestrian was walking eastbound on McNicoll in the south crosswalk at Kennedy while a white Cadillac Escalade was travelling westbound on McNicoll and turned left onto southbound Kennedy before colliding with the pedestrian.

Police said the driver of the Cadillac then fled the scene.

The pedestrian was taken to a trauma hospital with serious injuries.

Two days later, the pedestrian died of his injuries in hospital.

On Thursday, Meng Qian was arrested and charged with dangerous operation of a conveyance causing death, fail to stop at scene of accident/fatality, fail to stop at scene of accident/fail to give name, and careless driving causing death.
