The Chase fans have been left in uproar as they reeled over an “unnecessarily brutal” joke aimed at Anne Hegerty.
On Thursday (February 13), ITV viewers tuned in to watch a brand new episode of The Chase as four contestants were hopeful of walking away with some cash.
During the show, Bradley welcomed the first player to the floor, 48-year-old Edel. After an impressive cash builder round, the contestant had managed to earn a total of £8,000.
However, she didn’t know which Chase star she’d be up against as Bradley started to introduce them all. However, when it came to Anne Hergerty’s intro, the ITV star’s jibe didn’t sit well with people watching.
He said: “The Governess, the one time you’d believe Shaggy when he says it wasn’t him’.”

The audience erupted into laughter at the remark, along with Edel, who had to take a minute to compose herself.
Although people watching weren’t impressed ans quickly took to Twitter to share their thoughts. One person said: “That’s quite horrible Brad.”
Someone else wrote: “It wasn’t that funny, in fact it wasn’t funny at all.” Another commented: “I didn’t laugh one bit, Brad.”

One fan shared: “I know they’re mean about Anne on the intros, but Christ, that Shaggy joke was unnecessarily brutal.”
Agreeing, another replied: “It was horrible.”
In the end, the players took on Paul ‘The Sinnerman’ Sinha as he offered Edel a whopping high offer of £40,000, which she decided to take on.
Sadly, she was no match for the quiz master and she was caught at the table. As the episode unfolded, it was only 69-year-old Nigel left to face Paul in the final round.

However, the quiz star confessed Nigel could potentially win against him after being impressed with his knowledge, which saw him earn £8,000.
After being given a one step head start, Nigel managed to answer 16 questions correctly by himself, setting a target of 17 for Paul to beat.
It was a close game, although Nigel was no match for Paul, as he was caught with six seconds left on the clock. Impressed with his score, Bradley said: “That’s a fantastic performance, Nigel, excellent.”
The Chase continues weekdays on ITV from 5pm
