A man has sparked a lively debate online after sharing his definitive list of the ‘sexiest accents’ in the world, with the Yorkshire accent taking the top spot.
The chap, known as Jam, shared his rankings on social media platform X, which quickly spread to Facebook. Manchester, London, Geordie, Caribbean and Australian accents followed Yorkshire in his top picks. Meanwhile, Scottish, New York, ‘London Posh’, New Zealand and Scouse also made it into his preferred accents.
However, Jam’s ‘lowest tier’ included American, Birmingham, Welsh and sadly Bristolian accents.
The post has since gone viral, with many people people questioning one thing – why the Irish accent was omitted from his list. One user asked: “What happened to Irish? ” while another echoed: “How is Irish not on there?” A third commented: “Lies, Irish is the best.” While a fourth added: “What is this nonsense?”
The list follows a survey by dating app Tinder last December, which found the ’10 sexiest accents’ in the UK. The Irish accent took the top spot in that poll, followed by Scottish, Essex, Yorkshire and Welsh accents.
