How to choose a baby name
Naming a child is ultimately a decision the parent or parents of that child needs to make. There are many things to take into consideration, such as values and meaning, family traditions, cultural significance, and whether the name should be traditional or unique.
Parents might also want to consider practical elements, such as pronunciation and spelling, initials and nicknames, and whether the child will appreciate the name when they grow older. There are many ways to go about finding inspiration, from using baby name books and websites, to pop culture, speaking to friends and family.
Reddit users have been sharing their insights on choosing the perfect name for a child. One user commented: “I feel it in my gut. One of my kids even came to me in a dream and told me her name before she was born. The same thing happened with one of my angel babies.”
Another shared: “It literally means that it just feels right. When you look at the baby and imagine yourself calling them by that name and it just doesn’t seem to fit then it’s just not the right name for them. It’s just a gut feeling sort of thing.”
A third remarked: “We picked three for each child, didn’t tell anyone, then decided after they were born and we saw their face to see which name fit them.”
