Gerwyn Price was not happy after a whistling fan put him off his throw during his Premier League clash against Luke Humphries on Thursday night.

On the second night of the Premier League, taking part in Glasgow, the two former world champions did battle to take on Luke Littler in the final.

During a crucial throw in the third set, Price missed darts at double 12 and then double six with whistles heard from the crowd.

The Iceman turned around in disgust before Humphries planted double eight to take the leg.

Price opened the fourth leg to a 180 and immediately turned to the crowd and let loose with an almighty whistle of his own.

While he and Humphries shared a high-five on stage, the Welshman was clearly incensed with a look of anger on his face.

But it appeared to light a fire in his belly as Price went on to take the lead and go 3-2 up against the world No. 1.

While the loudest whistles seemed to shrink, jeers could still be heard from the crowd as Price looked to put the distractions out of his head.

Speaking on Sky Sports commentary, former BDO champion Mark Webster said: “Whistling is something which grates with the players.”

But Price’s reaction seemed to garner sympathy from the crowd as well, with his name being chanted in the aftermath.

However, Humphries regained his form and showed why he is still regarded as the world’s best player to triumph 6-4 – throwing some incredible arrows along the way.

After Price went 4-2 up, Cool Hand Luke stunned the Scottish crowd by taking out 420 in eight darts with back-to-back maximums along the way.
