Not long after the BBC’s The Traitors had viewers glued to their screens each weeknight, watching contestants deceive and conspire for a sizeable cash prize, the creators of the smash hit have now devised a fresh show set to premiere on Channel 4 later this year titled The Inheritance.
Described as ‘immersive and mischievous’, the new 12-part series invites a group of strangers to vie for an enormous fortune.
Upon arrival at a stately English country estate, 12 individuals are enticed by a tantalising prospect: the chance to inherit a substantial portion of a vast wealth. This fortune was once the property of a ‘glamorous benefactor’, known only as The Deceased.

The Deceased leaves behind a video message for the participants from beyond the grave, challenging them to unite as a team to tackle various tasks and unlock funds from The Inheritance.
The synopsis reads: “The better they perform, the more money is released. But The Deceased had a wicked sense of humour and one ruthless condition: to win the game they must persuade all others that only they should be entrusted with the money.”
Billed as a ‘wickedly immersive reality competition’, The Inheritance promises to deliver a concoction of mind games, mischief, and high-stakes drama, reports the Mirror.

Ahead of the series launch, Channel 4’s Head of Reality and Entertainment Steve Handley expressed his excitement: “The Inheritance isn’t just a battle of strategy, alliances, and inevitable betrayals – it’s a cocktail of drama, jeopardy, and outright mischief that Reality fans love.
“I can’t wait to see how our players handle the challenges, the twists, and a few sneaky surprises.”
Studio Lambert’s Chief Creative Officer Tim Harcourt also chimed in: “We often work together in life and yet some team-members seem to get so much more than others.
“This incredible game – part Knives Out, part Succession – can finally show us why this happens… and what better way to explore the notions of fairness and entitlement than through the delicious prism of a fight over a will’.”
The air date for The Inheritance remains under wraps.
