Susanna Reid has announced she’ll be taking a brief hiatus from her presenting duties on Good Morning Britain.

On the Wednesday (February 12) edition of the show, Susanna greeted viewers alongside co-host Ed Balls as they delved into the day’s top stories, including an inquiry into the 2023 Nottingham attack, the UK’s ongoing battle with litter, and concerns over children’s dental health.

As the programme neared its conclusion, Susanna and Ed joined regular pundits Andrew Pierce and Kevin Maguire to dissect the morning’s headlines before transitioning to Lorraine Kelly’s segment.

Before signing off, Susanna announced that she would be away for the upcoming half-term but reassured viewers that she would return the following week.

“Andrew, Kevin, good to see you this morning,” Susanna remarked as the discussion came to a close, reports the Manchester Evening News.

“I will be back after half term. Good Morning Britain is back tomorrow from six, now it’s time to join Lorraine,” she continued.

While it remains uncertain who will step in for Susanna during her absence, one of her seasoned colleagues, possibly Ranvir Singh, Kate Garraway, or Charlotte Hawkins, will fill in.

Having previously appeared on BBC Breakfast, Sunday Morning Live, and The Andrew Marr Show, Susanna was tapped to lead ITV’s flagship morning show, Good Morning Britain, in 2014. She typically anchors the programme from Monday to Wednesday, accompanied by a rotating cast of co-presenters.

Elsewhere on today’s programme, Charlotte Hawkins abruptly interrupted the show to announce breaking news.

The host disclosed that industry regulator Ofwat is investigating Thames Water for the delayed implementation of environmental improvement schemes.

Ofwat will probe whether the company has neglected to deliver these schemes over the past five years.

Wednesday’s GMB also included a chat with Vernon Kay, who hinted at his potential participation in the celebrity version of The Traitors and I’m a Celeb: All Stars.

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays on ITV1 and ITVX at 6am
