Top road racing duo Peter Hickman and Davey Todd will ride for a new team this year following a dramatic split from Faye Ho’s FHO Racing BMW squad.
Todd was announced in November as Hickman’s FHO Racing team-mate for 2025 and made his debut for the team at the Macau Grand Prix.
However, following growing rumours of discontent within the team, it has now been confirmed that 14-time Isle of Man TT winner Hickman and 2024 Senior TT winner Todd have parted company from team owner and entrepreneur Ho.
They will now ride for the newly-formed 8Ten Racing Team on fully-supported BMW M1000RR machines with backing from BMW Motorrad UK in the British Superbike Championship and at the North West 200 and TT.
An official team announcement will be made on February 26.
FHO Racing will continue in the British Superbike Championship with 2024 IDM Superbike champion Ilya Mikhalchik.
Hong Kong-born Ho, who was raised in Macau, says she will continue to support young women in racing and is also looking to expand motorsport activities in Asia.
“I am a strong advocate of the British Superbike Championship, one of the most entertaining and competitive series in the world,” she said.
“However, with my long-term goals looking to push motorsports activities in Asia, as well as to keep supporting young women with opportunities in racing,
“I’ve come to realise I cannot fully commit to the previous levels of time that I have given to BSB and Road Racing since becoming team owner in 2021 with additional commitments I have back at home in Macau.
“With the support of BMW Motorrad Motorsport, and my continued passion for BSB, we have altered our approach to run a one-rider team for the 2025 season, with the very talented Ilya Mikhalchik joining us as current IDM Superbike champion and I am excited to see what he can achieve.”
Davey Todd celebrates Macau GP success with FHO Racing
Hickman leaves FHO Racing after four years, during which time he won seven races at the Isle of Man TT and delivered a dream Macau Grand Prix success at Ho’s home race in 2023.
The 37-year-old posted an update on social media and said he was excited to be embarking on a new chapter in his career.
“I want to say a massive thank you to Faye/FHO Racing for everything she has done for me over the last four years,” Hickman said.
“As is normal with racing we’ve had mega highs and disappointing lows throughout but FHO has and always will be a huge part of my racing career and I’m forever grateful for that opportunity.
“Now starts another new chapter with team mate Davey Todd at 8Ten Racing and BMW Motorrad UK BMW Motorrad Motorsport. More news to come later this month but to say I’m excited would be an understatement.
“Huge thanks to all my sponsors and supporters both present and past, let’s make 2025 an unforgettable one.”
Hickman is also set to ride a Triumph 765 Supersport machine and a Yamaha R7 Supertwin at the North West 200 and TT, while Todd has done a deal with Padgett’s Racing to ride a Honda Supersport machine and a Paton Supertwin.
Scott Grimsdall, BMW Motorrad UK Head of Marketing & PR said: “Having supported FHO Racing since 2021, we have witnessed Faye’s passion for motorcycle racing, and have shared notable successes and records at the Isle of Man TT.
“Faye continues to receive the support of BMW Motorrad as she looks at wider motorsports opportunities internationally. The opportunity to introduce a rider of Ilya’s calibre to the championship, alongside the setup of an all-new team, with the calibre of Pete and Davey, manages to provide us with excellent strength and rider quality across multiple teams for both British Superbike and Road Racing efforts.”
The North West 200 (May 5-10) offers the first chance to see Hickman and Todd in action on the roads with their new team a few weeks before practice commences on the Isle of Man for the TT.
