Flames erupted early Wednesday in an Oshawa home where a woman was killed — allegedly by her husband — just three months ago.
Oshawa Fire Services responded to the house at 237 Eulalie Ave. – southwest of Ritson Rd. S. and King St. E. – around 5:15 a.m.
Firefighters doused the flames with water through the roof of the brick home, which was badly damaged by the blaze.
No injuries have been reported as a result of the fire.
“There were no occupants in the residence at the time and the investigation remains ongoing,” Durham Regional Police said.
Cops also confirmed the multi-level home on the southwest corner of Eulalie Ave. and Clark Rd. is the same house their officers responded to around 12:30 a.m. on Nov. 17 and found a woman suffering from “traumatic injuries.”
She was rushed to a Toronto trauma centre, where she was pronounced dead.
Police later identified the woman as 48-year-old Parween Adel.
Investigators identified her husband, who was arrested at the house, as the suspect in the killing.
Hakim Adel, 41, of Oshawa, was charged with second-degree murder.
Two kids and an elderly person were reportedly in the house at the time the woman was killed, but police said at the time that none of them were injured.
An area resident told the Toronto Sun he believes the house is a rental, but it’s unknown if the current tenants include the two children and the senior.
An online fundraiser for Parween’s twin daughters states the five-year-old girls “face a future without their mother and father.”
The GoFundMe campaign, “dedicated to raising funds for the twin girls’ current and future well-being and support,” has so far raised more than $94,000.
“Parween was a source of light and love for her children, and she worked tirelessly to provide them with a bright future despite the challenges she faced,” the GoFundMe says. “Now, as we grieve her loss, we must also rally together to ensure her children are supported, nurtured, and given the opportunities Parween would have dreamed of for them.”
