Brampton construction worker Jagmohan Dhillon was shocked to find out he’d won a $1 million Maxmillions prize in the Dec. 3, 2024 Lotto Max draw.

The father of three has been playing the lottery with OLG weekly for 15 years, but this was his first big win.

“I was at the store when I decided to check my tickets,“ Dhillon told OLG. “When I saw the prize amount, I was so happy that I nearly cried. It was a crazy moment that left me in shock. I’m thrilled and feel fortunate to have won this prize.”

Dhillon says he plans to pay off his mortgage.

His winning ticket was bought at New York News on Stone Church Rd. E. in Stoney Creek.

Soon-to-retire Ute Schram calls her $217,400 Lotto Max second prize win in the Jan. 17, 2025 draw an “out of body experience.”

Schram, of Paris, Ont., won the prize after playing the lottery with OLG for more than 20 years.

“It was a Saturday morning when I used the OLG app to check my tickets, and there it was,” Schram, a mother of two and grandmother of four, told OLG.

“It was very exciting. My husband was sitting across from me, so I said, ‘You have to see this!’ We were both thrilled.”

Schram said the win comes just two weeks before her retirement.

“This has been an out-of-body experience,” she told OLG.  “I never thought I’d win big, but when it happened, it was a beautiful, life-altering feeling. I’m retiring in two weeks, so the timing is perfect. This is such a fantastic gift.”

Schram was also patient when it came to telling her family who will share in her big windfall.

“I wanted to wait until the cheque was in my hands before sharing the news with my family,” she told OLG.

“I look forward to travelling, sharing with my children, and setting up educational funds for my grandchildren.”

Her winning ticket was bought at Pioneer/On the Run on King Edward St. in Paris.

Ottawa maintenance worker Ricardo Wilson-Duguay matched the last six of seven Encore numbers in exact order in the Jan. 15 Lotto 6/49 draw to win $100,000.

The 29-year-old says he found out online.

“I was at home, making dinner, when I thought to check my tickets using the OLG app,” he told OLG.

“I couldn’t believe what I was seeing. I thought to myself, ‘Wow. That’s a big number.’ When I saw the comma, I knew it was a big win. I was flabbergasted!”

Wilson-Duguay was so taken aback he sought a second opinion.

“I asked my roommate to take a second look, and when he confirmed I’d won, he gave me a big high five,” he told OLG. “We decided to commemorate the moment with a toast.”

Wilson-Duguay said he plans to not only spoil himself and his family, but others who need financial help.

“I feel awesome,” he told OLG. “I never expected anything like this. I plan to pay off my car and share with my family and friends. There are a lot of people in my community who could use a helping hand, so I intend to make some donations. It feels great to be in a position to help.”

His winning ticket was bought at Loblaws on Robertson Rd. in Nepean.
