On Wednesday’s edition of BBC Breakfast, Sally Nugent had to pause the programme as her colleague Jon Kay swiftly joined a live segment.
The 53-year-old anchor remained in the studio while her fellow presenter Jon, 55, ventured outside to chat with some youngsters who were promoting cycling or walking instead of driving to reduce pollution.
Back in the studio, Sally, who was hosting solo, heard from weather expert Carol Kirkwood to which a panting Jon was spotted re-entering the studio and promptly taking his place on the red sofa.
Sally playfully remarked: “Carol, that is perfect timing!” and then asked Jon: “You had to really get on your bike then, out of breath slightly maybe?”

Jon, still catching his breath, humorously responded: “Absolutely not!” to which Sally went on to ask: “Not wearing a microphone? Shall I talk for this bit?”, reports the Express.
But Jon was quick to retort: “I’m on!” indicating his microphone, leaving Sally astonished as she expressed: “How did you manage to do that?” to which he wittily replied: “I’m just incredibly organised!”
In another part of Wednesday’s broadcast, Sally didn’t hesitate to voice her concern for her co-presenter Jon.
As they returned to our screens to deliver the day’s main news items, it was a particular discussion that sparked conversation between them, featuring Will Hurley, chief executive of the International Parking Community, and Simon Williams from the RAC, as they delved into the topic of parking fines.
Jon seized the moment to discuss his recent parking venture, confessing: “I keep thinking about that car park we were in yesterday” to which Sally responded: “I know.”

Jon went on: “And I paid for that extra hour.” Sharing her concerns, Sally continued: “I am a little bit worried. Did you pay for that extra hour? I paid for the first bit.”
Jon asserted: “I did, I paid for that extra hour.” However, Sally remained sceptical, questioning: “Are you sure?” while Jon assured: “We’ll let you know.” Sally cautioned him: “You better not get a fine.”
In a lighter vein, Jon quipped: “Should we take Will’s number?” as Sally suggested: “One way to avoid parking problems is of course to leave your car at home and cycle or walk instead” prompting Jon to reflect: “Maybe we should have done that.”
