Shoppers have been left perplexed thanks to Waitrose’s unusual £15 ‘Easter Egg’. As seen on Facebook page Very British Problems, chocolate lovers don’t have to settle for eggs this year. If you’d prefer something different, Waitrose is offering a £15 chocolate croissant, along with traditional Easter eggs.

The No.1 The Chocolate Croissant has baffled shoppers after it went viral on social media. Some don’t think it has any place among Easter treats, while others can’t wait to try the creation and would happily serve it up for breakfast.

Reacting to the tasty-looking treat, one Facebook user said: “Egg is beginning to be an abstract concept I see.” Another wrote: “Nothing says Easter more than a chocolate croissant.” Someone commented: “Not an Easter egg then,” and a fourth added: “I’d be miffed if someone gave me that for Easter!”

Yet, plenty of commenters loved the idea. One such viewer praised: “I’d buy that in a heartbeat, that looks bloody amazing.” Someone else teased: “That’s breakfast sorted then,” and a fan agreed: “Now that makes it even more acceptable to have chocolate for breakfast.”

Others pointed out that the croissant is not advertised as an egg. That said, many shoppers have nonetheless dubbed the croissant an Easter egg thanks to its similar design, reports the Mirror.

According to Waitrose’s description, shoppers can expect “a perfectly shaped croissant made of rich blonde chocolate with feuilletine and biscuit inclusions inside the shell”. It is drizzled with milk chocolate and sprinkled with crunchy chocolate crumbs.

Whether or not the chocolate treat counts as an egg, it has delighted lots of shoppers who want to buy it as their annual Easter egg. The chocolate croissant has gone viral on TikTok, where lots of fans have filmed taste tests.

For example, Emily Jade (@Emiiyjade), earned upwards of 250,000 views after she tried the croissant in a video captioned: “This may have topped the easter eggs I’ve tried so far.”

The tester praised: “It tastes exactly like Caramilk… That is amazing. This would be such a good Easter egg, and I’m sorry that’s so creative and the detail on this is actually amazing.”

It’s also proved popular with reviewers on Waitrose’s website. One said: “Quite simply this is the best chocolate I have ever tasted. My wife agrees, my best friend agreed, my MIL and my mother agreed, my kids too… honestly! Please make this an all year round bar Waitrose!” Another wrote: “Bought in store and it’s divine, buttery chocolate that’s not too sweet. 11/10! Put this in bar form please!”
