Cork jockey Michael O’Sullivan remains in intensive care at Cork University Hospital following a serious fall at Thurles.

O’Sullivan, who rose to fame when steering Marine Nationale to Supreme Novices’ Hurdle success at the 2023 Cheltenham Festival, was airlifted to Cork in the aftermath of his fall from Wee Charlie in a handicap chase at the Tipperary track on Thursday, February 6.

There has been an outpouring of goodwill and well wishes from the racing community and beyond for the 25-year-old since then, with Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board (IHRB) Chief Medical Officer Dr Jennifer Pugh releasing a brief update on his condition on Tuesday.

“Michael continues to receive the best of care in the intensive care unit at Cork University Hospital. Michael’s family remain overwhelmed by the support and well wishes they have received over the last number of days,” an IHRB statement said on X.
